Sitatunga Private Island Camp

OVERVIEW

The Sitatunga private island concession is sited in a remote part of the Okavango Delta, further up to the north of Duba Plains concession in Botswana. Fondly called 'Little Duba' by safari explorers, this is an incredible location for the diversity of unique antelope seen, Sitatunga Island is remarkable for its water safaris including mekoro excursions and boating. In the dry season when the water levels are low, the land-based game drives are a highlight with an incredible diversity of wildlife seen.

Sitatunga Safari Diaries

The ancient Okavango Delta has a deep history and while the area has been inhabited for thousands of years, the location was recounted in the notebooks of legendary explorers, including David Livingstone who wrote in 1849: "While ascending in this way the beautifully-wooded river, we came to a large stream flowing into it. This was the Tamunak'le. I enquired whence it came. 'Oh, from a country full of rivers – so many no one can tell their number – and full of large trees."
